Campbell's Stores is a rare example of mid-nineteenth-century warehousing in Sydney and the only one of its type remaining on the foreshores of Sydney Cove. Campbell's Stores provides evidence of the changing nature of activities around Sydney Cove, the importance of this area as the hub of commerce and international shipping transport until the late nineteenth century, and its recent role as a cultural focus of international importance.
