The archaeological potential has been demonstrated in the 1995 excavations. The remains of the Dawes Point tar-ra battery remain exposed awaiting conservation and interpretation. The site still contains a significant archaeological resource unexcavated.
The possibility exists for visitors to experience and learn from the layering of history of this area of government land from 1788 until today. The post 1788 archaeological remains at Dawes Point tar ra revealed to date are extremely important for their research potential.
